I grew up in Pennsylvania and went to school in Maryland, specifically the University of Maryland. In the summer of 2015 I put all of my stuff in a 6ft x 8ft (something like that) moving crate and drove cross country with my childhood friends to Seattle where that crate was waiting for me.

I’ve been at Amazon working as a software developer for about a year and I’m having fun. Seattle is a fantastic, vibrant and approachable city. When I first moved here I got made fun of for using an umbrella, but I kind of get that now – it never rains hard enough to need it.

I originally started this blog to get better at communicating technical ideas, and it’s still about that, but lately I’ve been writing more about life in general as a younger guy entering the industry. Not sure what the future holds for me, but for now I’ll just enjoy this city and figure things out as I go.

I really like coffee (no seriously, I even made this website coffeeisbae.com, though I really don’t have any purpose for it yet. Tweet me @themoderncoder if you have any ideas)
