Hi, I’m Jack!
I attended the University of Maryland where I graduated with a bachelors degree in Computer Science. Since then I’ve gathered experience in the tech industry including software engineering management, and software engineering. My longest stint was at Amazon for a total tenure of over 6 years. I joined first as an SDE, before working my way to managing software teams across the US. While at Amazon I had the opportunity to work in both the Amazon retail and AWS businesses. Working alongside some of the brightest folks in the industry, I learned a lot about the business of building software inside a complex, global environment.
In 2016, I had the desire to bring together my communication skills, design acumen, and industry experience to inspire & educate those in the tech industry. To that end I started The Modern Coder YouTube channel and this blog.
As my experience has grown from the nitty-gritty of daily software engineering, into the big picture of the technology business and people management, I have many more ideas how to benefit others through these platforms.
